A little over an hour’s drive from Zurich. Follow motorway direction

TRAIN:
There are regular trains from Zurich Airport, Basel and Berne to
Engelberg.
“Intercity” train to Luzern then onto the delightful mountain train
that takes you up the Engelberg valley.

FROM ENGELBERG TO SCHÖNEGG:
Only one
road into town... follow that until you hit a sharp left hand turn into
Klosterstrasse... past
Coop (to the left) Touristcenter (to the right) - turn ritght around
Restaurant "zur alten Post" (beginning of pedestrianized
area)
and then turn left into Terracestrasse up hill - second sharp
turn -
Terracestrasse 8 / House Schönegg it's the
yellow house beside the red one.

We are a family of 5. We stayed for a week in late July/2010. The
appartment is sapatious and spotless.
Although it's in the center of the village, the view form the
terrace(both sides) is senic. The terrace itself is very well kept,
managed, furnished and landscaped. Top marks. The insied is comfortable
and nicley furnished. The kitchen has every thing you need. A second
bathroom would be nice, especially withe our three children. But it was
a good opportunity to stengthing the vertue of sharing and
thoughtfullness among ourselfes. All the village points of intrest are
within enjoyable walking distance. That includes train station,
shoping, grocery, doctor...etc.
Last but not least are the Rast's. There generousty and kindness is
unforgetable. They did everything to make our stay in their lovely home
no less than perfect.
I highly recommond visting Engelberg, as well as staying at this lovely
apartment.

found
the apartment spacious, very clean and comfortable, and especially were
pleased with the location to the city as well as the wonderful outdoor
spaces provided. the unit was well equipped and comfortable for our
stay. the beds were nice and we appreciated the comforters provided. we
enjoyed your hospitality and enjoyed trying to speak a little Deutsch
with your in-laws who were very nice, indeed. we would be pleased to
stay again in the unit if we ever travel to engelberg in the future.

What a wonderful and relaxing stay we had at Schonegg apartment in
Engelberg!! The description for the property was, in our view accurate,
the facilities had all 'mod cons' and felt home from home. Our
apartment was spotlessly clean and it certainly is most spacious! The
Owners made us feel welcome and were most helpful.
We enjoyed the shops in Engelberg itself, there is a great pizzeria in
the village which we enjoyed on our first night driving down to
Switzerland, and other restaurants, plus cafe's where you can enjoy
snacks, lunches and coffees etc. There is also a marvellous supermarket
not too far away which has everything you could wish for re. food and
toiletries which is brilliant for self catering. We thoroughly enjoyed
a meal one evening in the garden of the Alpenclub restaurant in
Engelberg, fantastic food and view of the mountains!!!
We enjoyed exploring locally by mountain bike, there is a very good
bike hire shop nearby which opens at 08.30 in the morning. We all
enjoyed rides up to and around the lake in Engelberg and beyond, for
bike riders there are lots of scenic routes you can take.
We had the use of the Owner's large garage for the length of our stay
which was very useful, to explore Engelberg itself you don't
necessarily need to drive, just park and walk! The apartment itself is
on a slight hill and has a few little steps at the front down to the
local shops, it was a very quiet peaceful location and the view from
the sitting room/ diner window was beautiful. Our family also enjoyed
touring central Switzerland, the boat trip to Lake Lucerne was
unforgettable, so was our visit on a lovely old cog railway train to
the summit of Jungfraujoch mountain, yes, quite expensive but very much
worth it in our eyes. Plenty to see and do. The lakes we passed in
central Switzerland are really a vivid blue and green. In all, we had
one of the most scenic and relaxing holiday stays. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Engelberg and thought the
apartment was stunning. Certainly one of the very best we have stayed
at in terms of equipment, cleanliness, position (in the heart of
Engelberg with a super atmosphere - but quiet and peaceful at night),
accommodation space and - those mountain views are just world class!
We felt very welcome by the friendly owners. They couldn't do enough to
help us and make sure everything was to our liking, but at no time did
we feel in any way invaded or lacking privacy.
There is so much to do in the area for those who appreciate incredible
scenery and are looking for a truly outdoor themed holiday. There are
walks, climbs, mountain bike trails plus enough cable-car, mountain
railway and gondala rides to give every day a different but equally
exciting edge.
It's a great place for a young family, couples or individuals to take a
relaxing holiday and enjoy this beautiful alpine scenery. We certainly
intend to be back one day.
One very small niggle only - the accommodation is (certainly was)
advertised with a washing machine. This facility exists, but there is
an extra-over charge, which we felt was a bit on the steep side. Maybe
the advertising should be updated a little to ensure this is more
accurately described. A minor point, which shouldn't put you off in any
way.
Once again - a wonderful holiday in a magnificent apartment situated in
a stunningly beautiful part of the world. Marvellous!

Clean,
tidy and just a few stairs off the main shopping road of Engelberg. We
had to walk less from the apartment to the bus and the bus to the ski
lift to Titlis than from a car on the Titlis parking lot to the lift.
Good apartment.
It is also
very near to the train station. We did not need a car in Engelberg, and
would suggest taking the train from the Zurich airport rather than
renting a car. The SBB have tons of different discounts and they will
haul your bags and skis to/from Engelberg from the airport.

Ich möchte mich hier im Namen
meiner ganzen Familie für den wunderbaren
Aufenthalt bedanken. Keine Wünsche blieben offen. Eine blitzsaubere
Wohnung, ungewöhnlich gute Ausstattung, liebenswerte Menschen, die um
unser Wohl besorgt waren und dazu noch super Skiwetter. Mehr kann man
nicht erwarten.
Wenn wir dürfen kommen wir gerne wieder. Herzlichen Dank für die prima
Unterkunft und die herzliche Gastfreunschaft.
